Prepaid reservations are required for all scout programs. Call 703-759-9018 to register.

Riverbend Park's Zen bridge

Our quaint bridge over the small zen pond is a great staging area for your bridging ceremony. With an expansive picnic area along the Potomac River, there is lots of space for your troop, parents, and more! Using the bridge is free and does not require reservations. Park Hours: 7am-dusk, daily

If the scheduled programs are not convenient you may arrange weekday badge programs for groups of 12 or more. Limited availability.  Call Riverbend at 703-759-9018. See Programs/Events page for details about row boat rentals, fishing rod rentals, and private fishing instruction that might also interest your group.

Brownie Try-It – Space Explorer – Girl Scout Astronomy Festival
+January 10, 6-8pm, Riverbend Park Visitor Center, 703-759-9018. View outer space through a telescope, listen to ancient stories about the constellations ‘round the campfire, take a guided tour of the night sky, make your own glow-in-the dark constellation to take home, and participate in other hands-on activities. Brownies and Juniors will complete the badge requirements for the Space Explorer and Sky Search Badges. Teen scout volunteers welcome. Reservations and advanced payment required. $6/scout, $6/sibling, $3/adult, Riverbend patch available for $3.15/scout

Brownie Try-It – Space Explorer – Night Sky Festival
+February 21, 6:30-8:30pm, Riverbend Park Visitor Center, 703-759-9018. Activities include guided star gazing, looking through a telescope, and listening to ancient stories about the constellations around the campfire. Become part of the solar system and join in other activities and games throughout the evening. Hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and snacks will be available for purchase. Canceled if raining or snowing. Reservations recommended for groups of 10 or more. $5/person

Junior Girl Scout – Sky Search -Girl Scout Astronomy Festival

Holiday Ornaments: Make Your Own
November 15- December 31
(Scouts of all ages), 9am-4pm Mondays and Wednesdays-Fridays, noon-4pm weekends and holidays, closed Thanksgiving Day, Riverbend Visitor Center, 703-759-9018. Teasels, pine cones and walnuts all add up to make some cool holiday ornaments. Bring your imagination and create some stylish or wacky items or follow some of our examples. Reservations recommended for groups. $5 for 2 ornaments

Animal Ornaments
Monday, December 1
(Scouts), 2-3pm or 3:30-4:30pm, Riverbend Visitor Center, 703-759-9018. Create animals, snowflakes, or your own unique invention using natural items to make ornaments. Reservations and advance payment required. $7, Riverbend patch available for $3.15/scout
