Learn to Skate ClassesChill out and enjoy the fun of ice skating! Learn how to skate with grace on the ice in our beginner skating classes, or increase your knowledge and skills through our advanced skating courses. We offer classes for people of all ages and abilities.
Designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. Proper techniques for the game of hockey are the primary focus and all elements are taught without a puck. Skaters will learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, and other necessary fundamentals to be successful.
If you're interested in learning to ice skate for enjoyment and recreation, or if you want to develop the skating skills to become a figure skater or hockey player, private ice skating instruction is for you! Private instruction is provided exclusively by our qualified instructors (some even World or Olympic-class coaches or skaters) approved by the Ice Director at Mount Vernon RECenter.
Lessons are offered from beginner through advanced levels for recreational ice skating, figure skating and basic hockey skills. To schedule a private lesson, complete the Private Skate Lesson Form and turn in at the Mount Vernon RECenter front desk. Please note that instructors set their own lesson schedules and fees.
