Stone Mansion

In 1780 Walter Brooke, a commodore of the Revolutionary War Navy of Virginia, friend of George Washington, and first cousin to George Mason, built a house just off the Kings Highway which he called "Retirement." That house is now known as Stone Mansion. A major renovation in the 1940s enlarged and modernized the house, added two wings, a stone facade, and an elegant two-story colonnaded front porch. Today the house sits in a 14-acre park and offers three separate rooms, a large formal entry hall with a quarter circular stair, screened porch, and full catering kitchen for your wedding or party of up to 90 or garden party of up to 150.

Just south of the Huntington Metro stop, Stone Mansion is convenient to Alexandria, Tysons Corner, Crystal City, and downtown Washington and is an elegant and refreshing alternative for an office meeting, retreat or seminar. With tennis and basketball courts, a picnic pavilion, and a large playground, Stone Mansion is also a delightful site for a company picnic.

Stone Mansion, located at 3900 Stoneybrooke Drive, in Stoneybrooke Park, may be reached by taking Beltway Exit 176A south (Telegraph Road) to a left on The Parkway, which becomes Stoneybrooke Lane at the crossing of South Kings Highway. The park and mansion are on the left.
