The Contract Register is a search engine designed to help you find an existing Fairfax County Contract. You can
search by any individual field or a combination of any fields.

There are several ways you can search for a contract:
|
- Keyword Search -This search runs against a list of the names of contractors holding contracts and a list of the current contract descriptions. Enter one word per box to find results that contain your search criteria in either category. This search looks for the words you enter anywhere in the list of contractor's names or descriptions of contracts and returns all entries containing these words. The most successful searches use BROAD terms like "furniture", not desk or chair.

- Selecting "ALL of these Keywords" -This selection will return only those contracts that are identified by all of the keywords that you use. For example, if you select "ALL" and search on "vehicle", "truck", and "trailer"; the search engine will present only those contracts that have "vehicle", "truck" and "trailer" in the contractor name or the contract description.

- Selecting "ANY of these Keywords" -This selection will return those contracts that are identified by at least one of the key words that you use. For example, if you select "ANY" and search on "vehicle", "truck", and "trailer"; the search engine will present all contracts that have "vehicle", "truck", or "trailer" in the contractor name or the contract description.

- Sort Results by - You can sort your list by either contractor name; contract number; description of contract; commodity or service; or expiration date.
|
- Advanced Searches - These searches allow you to narrow your search or to conduct specialized searches. They can be used in conjunction with or separate from the keyword search.
|
- Contractor Name Begins with - This option allows you to find all contracts where the contractor name begins with a certain letter or word. For example, if you select "Begins With" and type a "J" the search will return all of the contracts where the contractor name begins with the letter "J." This feature can eliminate the guesswork when searching for abbreviations. Type the first letter and receive all the variations used.

- Contractor Name Contains - This option allows you to find all contracts where the contractor names contains the word or words that you enter. For example, if you select "Contains" and search on "computer", the search will return all of the contracts where the word computer is somewhere in the contractor name.

- Description of Contract, Service or Commodity - This search will return all contracts where the contract, service or commodity description contains the word or words you enter. For example, A search on "vehicles" will return all of the contracts that include the word "vehicle" in the description of the contract.

- Contract Type - This search runs on the alpha prefix of the contract number. A contract type will allow you to limit your search to only that type of contract. For example selecting xx will limit your search to sole source contracts. Use the drop down box for a list of contract types.

- Contract FY - If you know the last two digits of the fiscal year that the contract was awarded, place it here to narrow your search. For example, 03 will limit your search to contracts awarded in FY 2003 only.

- Contract Number - This search runs against the contract numbers.

- Contract Administrator - If you know the Buyer for the commodity or service for which you desire to find a contract, you may search for all contracts administered by the Buyer. Please select the Buyer from the pull down menu.
